SharePoint updates creating conflicts with Valo Intranet UI

(2020-10-16) After Microsoft releasing their newest update for Modern SharePoint platform this week, we noticed major issues appearing in Valo Modern Intranet. Microsoft is currently in the process of rolling their newest release out and the issue this release causes with Valo Modern Intranet will be visible to more and more of our end customers.
Some examples of the issues we've recorded:
- Some page areas identifiers have changes and our styles might appear off.
- Valo Tabs web part is not working correctly.
- Valo Quick Links Web part in both Candela and Lux is affected.
- Parts of Valo Teamwork that is using the same UI is affected.
- Some of the Lightsaber customizations and external templates might be affected if using sp class names in styling.

| 2020-10-23 at 9.30 AM | We have been investigating more on the effects of the Microsoft's roll back this morning. Our recommendations are the following:

| 2020-10-23 at 3 AM | Microsoft is bringing back a lot of the class names that were removed from the DOM and will have the effect of fixing a lot of the styling issues on 1.7, 1.7.1 and 1.7.2 won't be affected (it will continue to work as it should). The only issue with be with 1.7 and 1.7.1 where the Tabs web part won't be working because of the changes. This is great news! The rollout will take about a week to be 100% available worldwide. We'll let you know when we start to see the changes! |
| 2020-10-22 at 9.30 PM | We have just received a message from Microsoft that there is a possibility that they will revert their changes from last week. This might mean that if our hotfix 1.7.2 is installed, after Microsoft's roll back the Intranet UI is broken again. We will keep you updated and if necessary, provide another hotfix. |
| 2020-10-20 at 07 PM | Please note that the hotfix 1.7.2 is targeted to tenants affected by the latest changes in Microsoft DOM (Document Object Model). If the tenant is not yet affected we recommend postponing the installation of this fix. |

Due to the change in the platform Microsoft has done, the update will bring minor UI changes compared to release 1.7.1 (or the latest releases before that). For example, the search centers will only have two results side by side instead of three. We are planning to improve the UI in the upcoming releases in the near future. |
| 2020-10-18 at 05 PM | In addition to the previous, most of the Valo web parts are now rendering correctly and we've had progress with the Tabs web part as well, but not ready with that one yet. We are planning releasing the first hotfix on Monday, this will be confirmed on Monday. |
| 2020-10-18 at 10 AM | At this point we have established the following fixes: Quick links in Candela overlapping the carousel and the Search center template. We are still working on the Tabs web part and other fixes, for example also other templates are facing rendering issues. We will be releasing fixes bit by bit as soon as we have them tested and ready enough for releasing. |
| 2020-10-17 at 05 PM | There has been some progress with our endeavours and we are now working on a solution. We now have an environment that has some of the candidate fixes, including a majority of the templates, quick links and tabs web parts. We have started testing but there is still a lot to do. |
| 2020-10-16 at 03 PM | We are still working on the issue. Unfortunately we are not able to ship the hotfix today. There is that much to fix. The team is relentlessly working on it also during the weekend and we hope that we are ready to ship early next week. As always, we will keep you posted. The fix for the Valo Quick links will be the easiest one to deliver. Tabs web part is causing as a lot of trouble and we are working to minimize the impact, but it's possible there will be re-configuration needed. Overall layout in the Search hubs (news, blogs, events...) is possible to fix. But there is still a lot of other layout issues we need to solve. So the work continues! |
| 2020-10-16 at 07AM | We have identified the issues. We had a call with Microsoft yesterday about the issue but that didn't get us far. The change will be rolled out to every tenant as we speak. We are working on the hotfix and try to release it as soon as possible. It's not simple to repair this but we are doing everything we can. We will let you know as soon as we have something. |
