Valo Connect displays "Failed to load component" error

Last Updated on 2021-09-16 04:36:27 UTC

Summary

(2021-09-10) Upon release of the Valo Connect v2.0.2 fastlane update, we became aware of an issue that caused errors to be displayed in all Valo Connect web parts.

The end-user impact of this issue resulted in an error displayed when browsing to a Valo Connect tab or personal app in Microsoft Teams. The Connect Admin page was also affected.

The error is represented as follows:

Something went wrong

If the problem persists, contact the site administrator and give them the information in Technical Details.

TECHNICAL DETAILS

[SPLoaderError.loadComponentError]
Failed to load component "xxx" (yyy). Original error: Failed to load entry point from component "xxx" (yyy). Original error: Error loading https://relative-path.invalid/@microsoft/sp-component-base as "@microsoft/sp-component-base" from https://component-id.invalid/xxx_2.0.0

The error typically continues with more trace information than listed above.

Valo has rolled back the v2.0.2 Fastlane update to our CDN network. If the error persists for a customer, we expect the update to roll out globally within 24 hours. If the error persists into the weekend or the following week, partners are encouraged to contact our support team for further instructions to resolve the issue.

This issue became apparent upon releasing the update via our Fastlane pipeline, and was not detected in our current QA processes. Investigation continues to the underlying cause of the error, which focusses primarily on recent changes to the SharePoint Framework v1.12.x.

Valo continues to investigate methods to mitigate the possibility of such an issue causing a direct impact to customers in future.

(2021-09-14) Investigation performed over the weekend has pinpointed the underlying cause of the error encountered by customers. The pinpointed cause relates to a SharePoint Framework library update. This library is only included for functionality of a new widget intended to be released in the v2.0.2 update (the Quick Chart widget). We have decided to defer the Quick Chart Connect Me widget release, so it is no longer part of the v2.0.2 Fastlane update. The Quick Chart widget will instead be released in a subsequent Partner Pack update.

We are preparing the release of our amended Fastlane v2.0.2 update. The amended update will include all features originally intended for v2.0.2, except the Quick Chart widget.

The amended Valo Connect v2.0.2 Fastlane update is now scheduled for release on Wednesday 15th September 2021.

( 2021-09-16) The amended Valo Connect Fastlane v2.0.2 release is now confirmed as released to customers via Valo's Fastlane CDN network.
